  • Noteable History

    1. In 1729, a significant battle occurred in Shahrood between Nader Shah’s forces and the Afghans.
    2. During his reign in the 4th century, Shapur II, the Sassanid king, is believed to have constructed a palace in Shahrood.
    3. Abu Muslim, an Abbasid general who played a vital role in overthrowing the Umayyad dynasty, was born near or in Shahrood.
    4. Amir Kabir was exiled to Shahrood by Naser al-Din Shah in 1852 and spent several years there before being assassinated; he was a well-known Persian statesman and reformer.
