Singkawang is a small city located in the western part of Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is known as the City of a Thousand Temples due to its rich cultural heritage and diverse religious practices. The city has a population of approximately 200, 000 people and is home to various ethnic groups such as Chinese, Dayak, Malay and Javanese. One of the main attractions in Singkawang is its unique Chinese culture that can be seen throughout the city.

The Chinese community here has preserved many traditions from their ancestors including dragon dances, Lion dances, And other cultural performances during important festivals such as Lunar New Year. Visitors can also explore several temples built in traditional Chinese architecture styles such as Vihara Tri Dharma Bumi Raya which houses three different religions – Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Another popular attraction in Singkawang is its natural beauty with various waterfalls and beaches nearby. One must visit Pasir Panjang Beach which offers stunning views of the South China Sea with white sand beaches stretching for miles.

Visitors can also take a trip to Gunung Poteng Waterfall located about 30 km away from Singkawang where they can enjoy swimming or hiking through lush green forests.
