Talavera is a municipality located in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines. It has a land area of 164.71 square kilometers and is situated in the central part of Luzon. The town is bounded by Aliaga on the north, Llanera on the east, Sto. Domingo on the south, And Zaragoza on the west. The town was originally called Maligaya which means happy or joyful in Tagalog language but was later renamed Talavera after General Mariano Talavera y Sanchez de Tagle who served as governor-general during Spanish colonial times.

One of Talavera’s main attractions is San Isidro Labrador Parish Church which was built during Spanish colonial times and features Baroque-style architecture with intricate carvings and decorations inside and out. It also houses several religious artifacts such as statues of saints and a wooden crucifix dating back to 1875. Talavera also boasts natural attractions such as Mt. Balungao Hot Spring Resort located in Barangay Puncan which offers hot spring pools that are believed to have therapeutic benefits for skin diseases and body pains.

Minalungao National Park located in Barangay Minalungao is another popular attraction where visitors can enjoy swimming or bamboo rafting along Penaranda River while surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Talavera’s economy mainly relies on agriculture with rice being its primary crop followed by corn, Sugarcane, Vegetables like eggplant & okra among others fruits like mangoes & guava are also grown here which contributes significantly to local farmers’ livelihoods. Tricycles are available for hire within Talavera Municipality itself while jeepneys ply routes connecting it to neighboring municipalities making transportation easy for visitors.

    1. Battle of Talavera: This battle occurred on April 25, 1899, during the Philippine-American War. American troops defeated Filipino forces in this significant battle.
    2. Jose Abad Santos: A prominent lawyer and statesman who served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court during World War II. He was born in San Fernando, Pampanga but spent much of his childhood in Talavera.
    3. Marcelo H. del Pilar: One of the leading figures in Philippine history during the late 19th century and early 20th century known for his role as an editor and writer for La Solidaridad, a newspaper that advocated for reforms under Spanish rule.
