Khorramshahr is a city in the Khuzestan province of Iran with a rich history dating back to the Achaemenid era. It became an important industrial and commercial hub during the 20th century, Situated on the banks of Karun River. The river provides irrigation for agriculture and serves as a major transport route for goods and people, Making Khorramshahr known as the gateway to Iraq due to its strategic location near the border. During the Iran-Iraq War, Khorramshahr suffered extensive damage but efforts were made to rebuild it after the war ended.

Today, Khorramshahr is home to several industries including petrochemicals, Oil refining, Steel production and shipbuilding. Shalamcheh Border Crossing connects Iran with Iraq and plays an important role in trade between both countries as well as serving as a gateway for Iranian pilgrims visiting holy sites in Iraq such as Karbala and Najaf. Khoramsharh also has several parks including one named after martyrs who died during Iran-Iraq war called “Martyrs Park” where people come together for picnics or sports activities. Another popular park is called “Golestan Park” which has a large lake, Fountains and greenery.

The city’s cuisine includes local dishes such as Ghalieh Mahi (fish stew), Kebab Koobideh (grilled minced meat) and Ghormeh Sabzi (herb stew) being popular among locals and tourists alike. Overall, Khorramshahr is an important industrial and commercial center in Iran with cultural attractions showcasing local history through museums while natural beauty can be observed at Shadegan Wetland where visitors can observe diverse species of birds including flamingos.

    2. It seems that the city doesn’t have a significant presence in the Iranian sports scene compared to other cities like Tehran or Mashhad.

    3. Mehregan: Celebrated in autumn, this festival celebrates friendship, love, and nature’s bounty.

    5. Sizdah Bedar: On this day Iranians spend time outdoors with friends and family for good luck after celebrating Nowruz for twelve days prior to this day.
