Tamale is the capital city of the Northern Region of Ghana, Located in the Savannah region. It is a bustling and vibrant city with a rich cultural heritage and history that dates back over 500 years. Tamale is one of the fastest-growing cities in West Africa, With an estimated population of over 600, 000 people. The city has several tourist attractions such as the Tamale Cultural Centre which showcases traditional dances, Music and crafts. Other notable sites include the Tamale Central Mosque which serves as a spiritual center for Muslims in Northern Ghana. Tamale is known for its rich cultural diversity, With over 20 ethnic groups residing within its borders. The Dagomba people are considered to be the dominant tribe; however, There are also Mole-Dagbani, Gonja and Mamprusi tribes who have their own unique traditions and customs. One of Tamale’s most famous festivals is Damba Festival which takes place annually during November or December depending on Islamic calendar cycles.

This festival celebrates Islam’s prophet Mohammed’s birthday through traditional music performances by drummers from various tribes accompanied by dancers performing acrobatic moves.
