Timon is a city in Maranhão, Brazil that sits on the eastern bank of the Parnaíba River and shares a border with Teresina, The capital of Piauí. The population of Timon is estimated to be around 170, 000 people and it covers an area of approximately 138 square kilometers. The city was founded by Portuguese settlers in the early 18th century and named after a Greek philosopher called Timon. Over time, It became a major trading center due to its strategic location on the banks of Parnaíba River.

Today, Timon has become an important industrial hub in northeastern Brazil with several industries ranging from textiles to food processing operating within its boundaries. It also boasts a thriving agricultural sector that produces crops such as rice, Beans, Corn and soybeans. One notable landmark in Timon is the Ponte da Amizade (Friendship Bridge), Which connects it to Teresina over the Parnaíba River.
