Zhijiang is a county in the western part of Hunan Province, China. It sits on the banks of the Xiang River and is surrounded by mountains, Making it an ideal destination for tourists. The county has a long history dating back to the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) and has been an important transportation hub between Hunan and Sichuan provinces. One of Zhijiang’s most famous attractions is the Wulingyuan Scenic Area which covers 369 square kilometers. It features towering sandstone pillars, Deep ravines, Gorges, Streams, Waterfalls, And caves. The area was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992.

The Shennong Mountain National Forest Park is another popular attraction in Zhijiang that covers an area of 1, 200 square kilometers. It boasts diverse flora and fauna including rare animals such as giant pandas, Golden monkeys, Chinese pangolins as well as over 3, 000 species of plants. Zhijiang also has many cultural sites such as ancient temples like Tianxin Temple which was built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) or Yuxi Temple which dates back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD).

The county is also known for its agriculture with crops such as rice being grown on terraced fields along mountain slopes.     1. The Battle of Changsha occurred in Zhijiang during the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1941. Chinese forces successfully defended their territory against the Japanese army.

    8. Xiong Shili, born in Zhijiang in 1885, developed his own philosophical system known as New Confucianism or Neo-Confucianism based on Buddhist principles combined with traditional Confucianism and became another notable philosopher from modern-day Hunan province.

    2. Lantern Festival: This festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month and involves lighting lanterns, solving riddles written on them, and eating tangyuan (sweet glutinous rice balls).
    3. Zhijiang International Tujia Folk Culture Festival: This festival showcases the unique Tujia ethnic culture with performances, exhibitions, food fairs, and traditional handicrafts.
