Basildon is a town located in the county of Essex, England. It was established as a new town in 1949 to provide housing for London’s overspill population. The town is situated 32 miles east of London and covers an area of approximately 10 square miles. The town has a rich history dating back to the Roman times. The name Basildon comes from the Old English words Beorgas and Dun, Which means Hills and Downs. Basildon was originally part of the ancient parish of Pitsea until it became an independent parish in the early 19th century.

Basildon has undergone significant development over the years, With many new housing estates being built to accommodate its growing population. Despite this, There are still some historic buildings that have been preserved, Including St Martin’s Church which dates back to the 13th century.
