Bingöl is a small city in eastern Turkey, Surrounded by the Taurus and Munzur Mountains. It sits on the Bingöl Stream which flows into the Murat River. The region has a rich history dating back to ancient times and was once part of the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia. The city’s economy is agriculture-based with wheat, Barley, Fruits, And vegetables being grown in abundance. The area also has significant reserves of copper and other minerals that are extracted through mining operations. Bingöl’s population is diverse with Kurds, Turks, And Armenians coexisting peacefully.

Kurdish traditions heavily influence local culture with music being an integral part of daily life. Traditional instruments like saz are played at weddings and other celebrations. Lake Karlıova is a major attraction in Bingöl located about 20 km from the city center. Visitors can fish for trout or carp or hike along its shores while enjoying its scenic beauty. Mount Süphan stands at an altitude of 4, 058 meters above sea level offering panoramic views over Lake Van to the east. Aşık Veysel Parkı is named after one Turkey’s most famous folk poets who hailed from Bingöl.
