Chuadanga is a district located in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. It is situated on the banks of the Mathabhanga River and shares its borders with India’s West Bengal state. The district has a rich history that dates back to ancient times, And it has been an important center for trade and commerce since then. The district covers an area of 1, 170 square kilometers and has a population of around 1 million people. It is divided into six upazilas (sub-districts) – Chuadanga Sadar, Alamdanga, Damurhuda, Jibannagar, Batia and Doulatganj.

The majority of the population consists of Bengali Muslims with small pockets of Hindu communities. Chuadanga is known for its agricultural produce such as paddy rice, Jute, Sugarcane and wheat. The district also produces high-quality mangoes which are exported to different parts of Bangladesh as well as other countries. There are many small-scale industries in Chuadanga which include handloom weaving, Pottery making and cane works. One such landmark is the Mathabhanga Bridge which was built during British rule in 1927 over the river Mathabhanga connecting Chuadanga to Jessore District in Bangladesh’s Khulna Division.
