Debre Birhan is a small city located in the Amhara region of Ethiopia, Approximately 130 kilometers northeast of the capital city, Addis Ababa. The name Debre Birhan translates to Mount of Light and it is believed to be named after the bright light that emanated from a nearby mountain during a battle between Ethiopian and Turkish forces in the 16th century.
