Erode is a city in Tamil Nadu, India, Situated on the banks of the River Kaveri. The city is known for its textile industries, Agriculture and handloom products. Erode has a rich history that dates back to ancient times when it was ruled by various dynasties such as the Cholas, Pandyas and Vijayanagara Empire. One of Erode’s main attractions is its Vellode Bird Sanctuary which attracts bird watchers from all over India. The sanctuary covers an area of 77 hectares and provides a natural habitat for various species of migratory birds such as storks, Egrets, Herons, Ibises and pelicans.

Visitors can enjoy boating on the large lake within the sanctuary. The Thindal Murugan Temple is another popular attraction in Erode which attracts thousands of devotees every year.
