Esenler is a district situated on the European side of Istanbul, Turkey. It is one of the most densely populated and lively districts in Istanbul, With a population exceeding 500, 000 people. The district got its name from Esenler Mosque which was established during the Ottoman Empire. Esenler has undergone rapid development since the 1970s and has emerged as one of the most significant transportation hubs in Istanbul. The district has three major highways that link it to other parts of Istanbul; TEM highway, E-5 highway, And D-100 highway.     Noteable History

    1. The Battle of Ankara was a significant event that occurred on July 20, 1402, near Esenler. Timur emerged victorious against the Ottoman Sultan Bayezid I, which resulted in his authority over much of Anatolia.
    2. Mehmed II, also known as Mehmed the Conqueror, is a renowned figure associated with Esenler. He became sultan at the age of 19 after his father’s death and conquered Constantinople in 1453. His conquests expanded Ottoman territory throughout Eastern Europe.
    3. On June 28, 2016, Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul was attacked by three terrorists resulting in the deaths of 45 people and hundreds more injured. This attack is one among several high-profile terrorist incidents that have taken place in Turkey recently.

    7. Fatih Terim played football for Galatasaray SK between1974-1985 before becoming their coach from1996-2000 & again from2002-2004 &2011–2013.He is a former Turkish football player with notable achievements as their coach too.
