It is renowned for being one of Mexico’s most significant mining towns due to its abundant silver deposits. The city spans an area of 6, 882 square kilometers and has a population of around 230, 000 people. Fresnillo’s history dates back to the 16th century when Spanish explorers discovered silver deposits in the area. The town was established officially in 1554 and became an essential center for silver mining rapidly.

Currently, Fresnillo remains one of Mexico’s most important mining towns and houses many major mines that produce gold, Lead, Zinc besides silver. Despite its industrial roots, Fresnillo has much to offer tourists looking for cultural experiences. One popular attraction is Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción church located at downtown Fresnillo’s heart.
