Fresnillo’s history dates back to the 16th century when Spanish explorers discovered silver deposits in the area. The town was established officially in 1554 and became an essential center for silver mining rapidly.

Currently, Fresnillo remains one of Mexico’s most important mining towns and houses many major mines that produce gold, Lead, Zinc besides silver.
