Gastonia is a city located in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, United States. It is the largest city and county seat of Gaston County with a population of around 77, 000 people. The city was founded in 1877 and named after William Gaston, Who was a prominent jurist and member of Congress from North Carolina. Gastonia has a rich history that dates back to the early 19th century when it was primarily an agricultural community. In the late 1800s, Textile mills began to spring up in the area due to its proximity to water sources and transportation routes.
By the early 1900s, Gastonia had become one of the leading textile manufacturing centers in the South. Today, Gastonia’s economy has diversified over time with industries such as healthcare, Education, Retail trade and manufacturing. It also serves as a regional hub for business and commerce.
