Guntakal is a city located in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, India. It sits on the banks of the Penneru River and is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historical importance. The city has been an essential center for trade and commerce since ancient times due to its strategic location between major cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, And Mumbai. The name Guntakal comes from two Telugu words ‘Gunta’ which means tank or pond and ‘Kallu’ which means stone. The city has several ancient temples that date back to the Chola dynasty period.

Among them are Sri Lakshmi Chennakesava Swamy Temple, Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple, Sri Peta Venkata Ramana Swamy Temple, And Sri Sai Baba Temple. The railway station at Guntakal is one of the busiest in Andhra Pradesh with over 150 trains passing through it every day.
