Hinthada is a city in the Ayeyarwady region of Myanmar, Located about 135 kilometers west of Yangon. The city has a population of approximately 200, 000 people and serves as an essential commercial center for the surrounding agricultural region. The city has a rich history dating back to the Bagan period when it was known as Hmawbi. During colonial times, It was renamed Hinthada by British administrators. Many local activists joined the fight against British rule during Myanmar’s struggle for independence.

Today, Visitors can explore traditional teashops and sample local cuisine at food stalls or visit one of several pagodas scattered throughout the city. Shwethalyaung Pagoda is one notable attraction that features a towering golden stupa surrounded by smaller shrines and statues.   6. Chinlone Festival: This is a traditional sport event that involves kicking around woven rattan balls while performing acrobatic moves set to music.
  7. Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda Festival: Although this festival takes place outside of Hinthada town (in Mon State), it attracts many visitors from Hinthada who come to pay homage at the famous Golden Rock pagoda during December or January every year.
