Kaspiysk is a city located in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia. The city is situated on the western shore of the Caspian Sea and has a population of approximately 126, 000 people. It was founded in 1932 as a small fishing village and later developed into an industrial center. Kaspiysk has a rich history dating back to ancient times. The area was inhabited by various tribes such as the Scythians and Sarmatians before being conquered by Persia in the 6th century BC.

Later, It became part of the Mongol Empire and then passed through various hands including those of Timurids, Safavids, Shirvanshahs, And Russians. The city is known for its beautiful beaches which attract tourists from all over Russia during summer months. The Caspian Sea offers great opportunities for swimming, Sunbathing or simply relaxing with friends or family on one of its sandy shores. Apart from tourism, Kaspiysk’s economy relies heavily on agriculture (cotton production) and oil refining industries. There are also several fish processing plants that provide employment to many locals.

One notable attraction in Kaspiysk is its central mosque – Juma Mosque – which was built in 1990s with funds from Saudi Arabia. It can accommodate up to 15 thousand worshippers at once making it one of the largest mosques not only in Russia but also worldwide. Another interesting place to visit while in Kaspiysk is Dagestan State Museum which showcases different aspects of local culture including traditional costumes, Weapons used by ancient tribesmen among other exhibits.
