Kemerovo is a city situated in the southwestern region of Siberia, Russia. It serves as the administrative center of Kemerovo Oblast and is one of the biggest cities in Siberia with a population exceeding 500, 000 people. The city has a fascinating past and was established in 1918 as an industrial hub for coal mining. The economy of Kemerovo heavily relies on coal mining that has been ongoing since the early 20th century. The largest coal basin in Russia, Kuzbass lies to the east of Kemerovo and supplies most of its coal.
