Ludhiana is a city situated in the northern Indian state of Punjab. It is well-known as the Manchester of India due to its flourishing textile industry, Which has made it one of the most significant industrial centers in India. The city is also a primary hub for agriculture and farming, With many farmers from neighboring areas bringing their produce to Ludhiana’s markets. The history of Ludhiana can be traced back to the 15th century when it was founded by Sikander Lodhi, Who named it after himself.

During British rule in India, Ludhiana became an essential center for trade and commerce due to its location on the Grand Trunk Road connecting Delhi with Amritsar. 1. The Battle of Ludhiana took place in 1805 between the British East India Company and the Sikh Empire, resulting in the annexation of Punjab by the British.
2. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was a Sikh warrior and ruler who built an empire that included Punjab, Kashmir, and parts of Afghanistan during the early 19th century. He made Lahore his capital but also had a palace in Ludhiana.
3. During the partition of India in 1947, many people migrated to or from Ludhiana as it became part of Indian Punjab while its former twin city Lahore became part of Pakistan.
4. In the 1960s, Ludhiana played an important role in India’s Green Revolution as it became a hub for agricultural research and development.
5. Bhagat Singh was an Indian revolutionary socialist who fought against British colonial rule during the early 20th century. He spent some time studying at National College (now Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College) in Ludhiana although he was born nearby Banga village.
6. Lala Lajpat Rai was another prominent freedom fighter from Punjab who played an active role in various movements against British rule during the first half of the 20th century.
7. Harbhajan Singh Yogi founded Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan which has become popular worldwide today with many yoga studios offering this style.
8. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is believed to have visited this region on his travels across South Asia as he is considered to be founder guru of Sikhism.
