Maidstone is a town located in Kent, England. It sits on the banks of the River Medway and has a population of around 170, 000 people. The town has a long history dating back to Roman times and was an important market town during the Middle Ages. One of Maidstone’s most famous landmarks is its medieval castle, Built by Archbishop William Courtenay in 1377. The castle played an essential role during various periods of English history, Including during the Peasants’ Revolt in 1381 and World War II when it served as a military headquarters.
