Sutton Coldfield is a town located in the West Midlands of England, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately 8 miles northeast of Birmingham city centre and covers an area of 52.5 square kilometres. The town has a population of around 95, 000 people and is one of the most affluent areas in the region. The history of Sutton Coldfield dates back to Roman times when it was known as Mamucium. The name Sutton comes from the Anglo-Saxon word for south farm or settlement while Coldfield refers to its location on a cold, Barren plateau.
In the Middle Ages, Sutton Coldfield was owned by various noble families before becoming part of Warwickshire in 1489. One of Sutton Coldfield’s most notable landmarks is Sutton Park which covers over 2, 400 acres and is one of Europe’s largest urban parks. The park features woodlands, Lakes, Heathland and grassland making it an ideal place for walking, Cycling and horse riding.
