Maiduguri is the capital city of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria. It has a population estimated at over 1 million people and is one of the largest cities in the region. The city’s location on the edge of the Sahara Desert gives it a semi-arid climate characterized by hot and dry weather. The history of Maiduguri dates back to pre-colonial times when it was an important center for trade, Commerce, And Islamic scholarship. Today, It remains an important center for Islamic education and culture.

Agriculture drives much of Maiduguri’s economy with crops such as sorghum, Millet, Maize, And groundnuts being cultivated in large quantities. However, Insecurity caused by Boko Haram insurgency has disrupted farming activities leading to food shortages across the state.
