Marīvān, Located in the Kurdistan Province of Iran, Is a small city with a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty. The city sits at an elevation of 1, 500 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains covered with oak and pine trees. The history of Marīvān dates back to ancient times when it was part of the Median Empire. Throughout history, Marīvān has played a significant role in Kurdish culture and politics. Several prominent Kurdish figures were born here, Including Qazi Muhammad who led an uprising against the Iranian government in 1945.

One of Marīvān’s most notable attractions is its traditional bazaar dating back to the Safavid era (16th-18th century). The bazaar features shops selling local handicrafts such as carpets, Rugs, Textiles, Pottery and jewelry. Visitors can also find delicious local food at restaurants and cafes scattered throughout the bazaar. Another popular attraction in Marīvān is its natural beauty. One can visit Darband-e Kuhpayeh waterfall which lies on one side of Marivan valley or take a trip to Lake Zarivar located about 20 kilometers away from Marivan city center.
