Masaka is a bustling town located in southern Uganda, Approximately 130 kilometers southwest of the capital city, Kampala. It is situated at an altitude of 1, 150 meters above sea level and covers an area of about 28 square kilometers. The town has a population of over 100, 000 people and is known for its vibrant markets, Cultural festivals, And historical landmarks. One of the most significant landmarks in Masaka is the Kitovu Cathedral. This impressive structure was built in the early 1940s by missionaries and stands as a symbol of Masaka’s rich Catholic heritage.
The cathedral’s towering spires can be seen from miles away and are illuminated at night to create a stunning visual display. Another popular attraction in Masaka is Lake Nabugabo. This freshwater lake covers an area of about 25 square kilometers and offers visitors opportunities for fishing, Bird watching, Boating, And swimming.
