Parnamirim is a city located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. It is situated just south of Natal, The capital city of Rio Grande do Norte. Parnamirim has a population of approximately 260, 000 people and covers an area of 117 square kilometers. The history of Parnamirim dates back to the early 19th century when it was founded by Portuguese settlers. The city played an important role during World War II as it served as a strategic air base for the United States Air Force.

The air base was used to launch bombing missions against German submarines in the Atlantic Ocean.
