Pīrānshahr is a city located in the West Azerbaijan province of Iran, Close to the border with Iraq. It has a population of around 150, 000 and a rich history dating back to ancient times when it was known as Garmakan. During the Parthian era, Pīrānshahr was an important center for trade and commerce. One of its most notable landmarks is the Qala-ye Jahangir Fortress which served as a defense against Ottoman invasions during Shah Abbas I’s reign. Lake Zeribar is another popular attraction in Pīrānshahr, Covering an area of approximately 4 square kilometers.

Visitors can enjoy fishing or boating or simply take in its breathtaking views.
