Pul-e Khumrī is the capital of Baghlan Province in northern Afghanistan. The city has a population of approximately 60, 000 people and sits at an elevation of 1, 010 meters above sea level. It is located on the banks of the Kunduz River. The name Pul-e Khumrī means bridge over the Khumrī River, Referring to a bridge that once spanned across the river. The city has been an important center for trade and commerce since ancient times due to its strategic location along trade routes between Central Asia and South Asia.
