Qingzhen is a small city located in the northern part of Guizhou province, China. Despite its size, It has a rich history and cultural heritage that attracts tourists from all over the world. The city was founded during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and was an important stop on the ancient Silk Road trade route. One of Qingzhen’s most famous landmarks is the Qingyan Ancient Town, Which dates back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).   3. The Battle of Huaiyuan occurred near Qingzhen during the Three Kingdoms period in 196 A.D.
  4. Guo Moruo, born in Qingzhen from 1892 to 1978, was an accomplished Chinese writer, poet, historian and archaeologist who’s considered one of China’s greatest writers.
  5. Yang Shixiang was a well-known painter who lived from 1919 to 2004 and spent much time painting landscapes around his hometown including those around Qingzhen.
  6. Wang Xizhi was a calligrapher known for his wild cursive style that he developed while living in Jiankang (now Nanjing) but also spent some time visiting nearby regions such as modern-day Guiyang and Anshun during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420).
  7. The Tang Jiyao Rebellion led by Tang Jiyao against warlord Lu Rongting’s forces based at Guiyang resulted in fierce fighting throughout Guizhou Province including around its capital city Zunyi where Mao Zedong later established himself as leader among Communist Party cadres after surviving an ambush by Kuomintang forces there on January 15th,1935.
