Sātkhira is a district located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh, Known for its stunning natural landscapes and cultural heritage. The Bay of Bengal borders the district to the south, While Khulna District is situated to the east, Jessore District to the north, And West Bengal in India to the west. One of Sātkhira’s most prominent features is Sundarbans, An extensive mangrove forest which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This unique ecosystem spans approximately 10, 000 square kilometers and provides habitats for various flora and fauna species.

Visitors can explore this area through guided tours by boat or on foot. Aside from its natural beauty, Sātkhira also boasts a rich cultural heritage that can be seen in its architecture, Music, Dance, And cuisine. The district houses many historic mosques such as Kalaroa Mosque which dates back to 1679 AD. Shyamnagar Palace built-in 1905 during British colonial rule is another popular attraction. The majority of people living in Sātkhira are Bengali Muslims who speak Bengali as their primary language; however there are also small communities of Hindus with their own traditions and customs.

Local cuisine includes dishes such as hilsa fish curry (a popular local fish), Pitha (rice cakes), Chutney made from mangoes or tamarind. Agriculture primarily drives Sātkhira’s economy with rice being the main crop grown here along with jute sugarcane wheat among others. The region also has significant shrimp farming industry due to proximity with Bay Of Bengal coastline which provides ample opportunity for export business.
