Sodo is a city located in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, And Peoples’ Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia. It is situated about 100 kilometers south of the regional capital, Hawassa. The city has a population of around 100, 000 people and is the administrative center of Sodo Zuria woreda. The economy of Sodo is primarily based on agriculture. The region produces crops such as coffee, Maize, Teff (a type of grain), And various fruits and vegetables. Livestock farming is also significant in the area with cattle, Goats, Sheep being raised for their meat and milk products.

One notable landmark in Sodo is the Wolayta Sodo Rock Hewn Churches. These churches were carved out of solid rock during the 12th century by early Christian settlers in Ethiopia. The site contains several monolithic churches that are still used for worship today. Another attraction in Sodo is Lake Abaya which lies to its southeast.
