Surakarta, Also known as Solo, Is a city located in Central Java, Indonesia. It is situated approximately 60 kilometers east of Yogyakarta and has a population of over 500, 000 people. The city is famous for its rich cultural heritage and traditional Javanese arts. One of the most iconic landmarks in Surakarta is the Kraton Kasunanan Palace. This palace was built in the mid-18th century and served as the residence of the royal family until Indonesia gained independence in 1945.
