The team was founded in 1995 as the Henan Dragons before moving to Taiyuan and changing their name to Shanxi Zhongyu Dragons. In 2011, they changed their name again to Shanxi Brave Dragons before finally settling on Shanxi Loongs.
  3. Taiyuan Teraoka Elektronics FC – This is a semi-professional football club that plays in the third tier of Chinese football, known as China League Two. The team was founded in 2006 and has mostly played at this level since then.
  4. Shanxi Xindu FC – This is another semi-professional football club based in Taiyuan that also plays in China League Two. The team was founded more recently than Teraoka Elektronics FC, only starting play during the 2020 season.
