Noteable History
During the Ming Dynasty, Tangdong played an important role as a military stronghold.
The Tangdong Cave Temple, which is located within the town limits, is a renowned Buddhist temple.
In 1950, Communist forces fought against Nationalist troops in Tangdong during the Chinese Civil War.
Li Bai, one of China’s most celebrated poets from the Tang Dynasty era (701-762), was rumored to have visited Tangdong at some point in his life.
Additionally, this town is famous for producing traditional Chinese musical instruments such as erhu and pipa.
