It has grown to become one of the largest industrial centers in the country with over 170, 000 residents. The city’s coal mine is its most prominent feature and produces millions of tons of coal annually for both domestic and export use. Aside from coal mining, Temirtaū has other industries such as steel production and chemical manufacturing.
