  1. The Timişoara Revolution of 1989 was a series of protests and demonstrations that occurred in December 1989 in Timişoara, Romania. These events ultimately caused the Communist government in Romania to fall.
  2. Traian Vuia was an aviation pioneer and inventor from Romania who designed and built the first successful monoplane in Europe. He flew this plane for the first time near Timişoara in March 1906.
  3. Nicolae Paulescu was a physiologist from Romania who worked as a professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timişoara. He independently discovered insulin before Frederick Banting and Charles Best.
  4. Maria Theresa of Austria was an archduchess of Austria, queen consort of Hungary and Bohemia, and empress consort of the Holy Roman Empire who visited Timişoara several times during her reign.
  5. Mihai Eminescu was a Romanian poet, novelist, journalist, literary critic, translator, and one of the most important figures in Romanian literature who spent some time living in Timişoara during his youth.
  6. Johann Strauss II was an Austrian composer known as The Waltz King who performed many concerts throughout Europe including one at Opera House from Timisoara on October 30th ,1885 .
  7. Victor Babeș is a renowned bacteriologist , pathologist , biologist & physician from Romania .He founded Institute Pasteur from Bucharest & developped serum against diphtheria . In 1892 he became Professor at Faculty Of Medicine From University Of Franz Joseph From Temesvar (Timisoara) where he worked until his death .
  8. Ion Vidu is a lawyer by profession but also an anti-communist activist . After World War II he became involved into politics being elected as member into Parliament until Communists took power over Romania . He was arrested and sentenced to death in 1958 for crimes against the state , being executed in Jilava Prison on May 25th, 1959.
  9. Corneliu Coposu was a prominent Romanian anti-communist dissident, politician and lawyer who spent over a decade in prison during the Communist regime . After the Revolution of 1989 he became President of National Peasant Party which won elections in May 1990 but not enough seats to form government . He died on November 11th ,1995 .
  10. Ioan Slavici was a Romanian writer, journalist, and translator who wrote novels, short stories, and plays inspired by life from Banat region (where Timisoara is located). His most famous works are Mara (1894) & Popa Tanda (1895).
