Tizi Ouzou is a city in the northern part of Algeria, Located at an altitude of 2000 feet above sea level. It is the capital city of Tizi Ouzou Province and considered a significant city in Kabylia region with a population of around 150, 000 people covering an area of approximately 100 square kilometers. The name Tizi Ouzou means the pass of wolves in Kabyle language. The French colonizers founded this city in the early 20th century, Which has since become an education, Culture, And industry hub. The Mouloud Mammeri University attracts students from all over Algeria.

Tizi Ouzou has many festivals and celebrations throughout the year that reflect its rich cultural heritage. Yennayer marks Berber New Year on January 12th each year. Lounès Matoub Day commemorates one of Kabylia’s most famous singers who was assassinated in 1998.
