Tobruk is a coastal city in Libya, Located about 160 kilometers east of Benghazi and 1, 000 kilometers east of the capital city, Tripoli. This city has a rich history dating back to ancient times and has been an important strategic location throughout its existence. During World War II, Tobruk played a crucial role in the North African campaign. The city was occupied by German and Italian forces for eight months before being liberated by Allied troops in 1941.
The Battle of Tobruk was one of the most significant battles fought during this period and saw fierce fighting between Axis and Allied forces. Today, Tobruk is home to several historical landmarks that serve as reminders of its past.
