Ulyanovsk is a city in western Russia, Located on the Volga River. It serves as the administrative center of Ulyanovsk Oblast and has a population of around 600, 000 people. The city was originally founded in 1648 as Simbirsk, But later renamed to honor Vladimir Lenin. Ulyanovsk is steeped in history and culture which can be seen through its architecture, Museums and monuments. One such monument is the Lenin Memorial Complex which includes his childhood home, Museum exhibits about his life and work and a mausoleum where he is buried.
