Wuhai is a city in Inner Mongolia, China that boasts a distinct geography with sand dunes and grasslands surrounding it. The city’s population exceeds 500, 000 people and covers an area of 1, 754 square kilometers. The name Wuhai means five lakes in Chinese, Which refers to the five interconnected lakes within the city limits. These lakes are popular tourist attractions that offer activities such as boating and fishing. The largest lake, Haibowan Reservoir, Is also used for irrigation purposes. One of Wuhai’s most notable landmarks is its coal mining industry.

The city has several coal mines that produce high-quality anthracite coal used for heating and industrial purposes both domestically and abroad. Coal mining has been a significant economic driver for Wuhai since the 1950s. In recent years, Wuhai has become an important transportation hub in Inner Mongolia thanks to its two airports (one domestic and one international) as well as several highways connecting it to other major cities in China.
