Yamunanagar is a city located in the northern Indian state of Haryana. The city was named after the Yamuna river, Which flows through the district. It has a rich history and was once known as Abdullapur before being renamed in 1973. One of the major attractions of Yamunanagar is its proximity to several national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. The Kalesar National Park, Located about 50 km from the city, Is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna including tigers, Leopards, Elephants and deer.
Another popular destination for nature lovers is the Chhachhrauli Wildlife Sanctuary which houses several species of birds and animals. Apart from its natural beauty, Yamunanagar also boasts several historical sites that are worth visiting. The Adi Badri Temple Complex, Located about 16 km from the city center, Dates back to the Gupta period (4th-5th century AD) and consists of seven ancient temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The town also has an industrial side with several factories producing paper products being established here since it’s close proximity to forests making it ideal for paper production.
However today many companies have diversified into other areas such as textiles and chemicals making it one of Haryana’s important industrial centers. Yamunanagar also holds cultural significance as it was home to famous Hindi poet Shiv Kumar Batalvi who wrote some immortal verses here . His house has been turned into a museum showcasing his life’s work along with other memorabilia related to him.
