An Nuhūd is a town located in the northern part of Sudan, Near the border with Chad. It is situated on the eastern bank of the Nile River and is the capital of West Kordofan State. The town has a population of around 100, 000 people and is known for its rich history, Cultural heritage, And natural beauty. The town was founded by Arab tribes in the early 19th century as a trading center for ivory and slaves. During this time, An Nuhūd was an important stopover point for caravans traveling from central Africa to Egypt.

  3. The Kordofan Uprising occurred in 1924, when Ali Abd al-Latif led a rebellion against British colonial rule in Kordofan, where An Nuhud is located.
  4. General Ibrahim Abboud became president of Sudan after staging a coup in 1958. He attended school in An Nuhud before joining the military.
