The town has a population of around 100, 000 people and is known for its rich history, Cultural heritage, And natural beauty. The town was founded by Arab tribes in the early 19th century as a trading center for ivory and slaves. During this time, An Nuhūd was an important stopover point for caravans traveling from central Africa to Egypt.
