Eloy Alfaro is a small town situated in the coastal region of Ecuador and named after one of the country’s most influential figures, Eloy Alfaro. He was a revolutionary leader who fought for social justice and equality during the late 19th and early 20th century. Born in Montecristi on June 25th, 1842, Eloy Alfaro became involved in politics at an early age. He quickly gained prominence as an advocate for progressive reform and led several uprisings against the conservative government that ruled Ecuador.

One of his most significant achievements was leading the Liberal Revolution of 1895 which overthrew President Luis Cordero. This revolution established a new government focused on social justice and equality for all citizens. During his presidency from 1895-1901 and again from 1906-1911, Eloy Alfaro implemented many reforms that improved education, Healthcare, Infrastructure development, And workers’ rights.
