Guangshui is situated on the banks of the Han River, Which flows through the city and provides water for irrigation and transportation.   6. The Tang dynasty general Zhang Xun (died 756) was born in Guangshui and played a key role in suppressing the An Lushan Rebellion.
  7. The Ming dynasty scholar-official Liu Ji (1311-1375), also known as Liu Bowen, was born in Guangshui and served as a strategist for Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang.
  8. The Qing dynasty scholar Wu Jingzi (1701-1754), author of The Scholars, had ancestral roots in Guangshui and wrote about it in his work.
