Ikare is a bustling city situated in the northern part of Ondo State, Nigeria. It is one of the largest cities in the state and has a rich cultural heritage that dates back to ancient times. The city has a population of over 200, 000 people and is home to various ethnic groups including the Yorubas, Hausas, Fulanis and Igbos. The economy of Ikare heavily relies on agriculture with crops such as cocoa, Yam, Cassava and maize being cultivated on large scale farms in the surrounding areas.

The city also has a thriving trade industry with markets such as Oja-Oba (King’s Market) selling everything from food items to textiles. One of Ikare’s most notable landmarks is the Palace of Olukare which serves as the traditional residence of the town’s monarch. The palace was built in 1900 during British colonial rule but has undergone several renovations since then. It serves as an important cultural center where traditional rites are performed and festivals celebrated. Another significant landmark is St John’s Anglican Church which was established by British missionaries in 1913.

The church building features unique architectural designs that reflect both European and African styles making it an interesting sight for visitors. There are also several tourist attractions within Ikare such as Idanre Hills which are located about 30km away from Ikare town. These hills offer breathtaking views of natural rock formations, Waterfalls and lush vegetation making it a popular destination for nature lovers. For those interested in history, There is also an ancient cave site known as Oke-Ido Cave located about 10km away from Ikare town where artifacts dating back to prehistoric times have been discovered.
