Jessore is a district located in the southwestern region of Bangladesh. It is bordered by the districts of Narail and Magura to the north, Khulna to the south, Jhenaidah and Chuadanga to the east, And West Bengal of India to the west. The district covers an area of approximately 2, 607 square kilometers with a population of over 2 million people. Jessore is known for its rich cultural heritage, Historical significance, Agricultural production, And educational institutions. One significant landmark in Jessore is Benapol Land Port which connects Bangladesh with India.

It serves as a major trade route between these two countries. The land port has made Jessore an important commercial hub where various goods such as textiles, Food products, Electronics are traded on a daily basis. Jessore also has several historical sites that attract tourists from all over Bangladesh. One such site is Chanchra Shiva Temple which dates back around 400 years ago during Mughal rule in Bengal.

Another popular tourist attraction is Sheikh Russel Jatiya Smriti Complex built in memory of Sheikh Russel who was killed along with his father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during a military coup in 1975. Agriculture plays a vital role in Jessore’s economy since it has fertile soil and favorable climatic conditions for crop cultivation. Rice is one of its primary crops along with jute fiber production contributing significantly to its economy.
