Beichengqu, Also known as the North City District, Is a bustling and vibrant district located in the heart of Tianjin, China. The district covers an area of approximately 32 square kilometers and is home to a population of over 500, 000 people. Beichengqu has a rich history that dates back to the Qing Dynasty when it was established as a commercial center for trade between China and Russia.   2. Zhang Xueliang: Zhang Xueliang was a Chinese warlord who controlled Beiyang Army during the early 20th century. He played an important role in modern Chinese history, including his support for Chiang Kai-shek’s Nationalist government and his later abduction by the Communist Party.
  3. Marco Polo Bridge Incident (1937): The Marco Polo Bridge Incident marked the beginning of the Second Sino-Japanese War. It took place near Lugou Bridge (also known as Marco Polo Bridge) in Beichengqu when Japanese troops clashed with Chinese forces.
  4. Tianjin Massacre (1870): In 1870, French and British troops attacked and looted parts of Tianjin city including Beichengqu after being denied access to Beijing during diplomatic negotiations with China’s Qing dynasty.
