Luoyang is a city located in the central part of China’s Henan province, Situated on the banks of Luo River. It is one of the oldest cities in China and has a rich history dating back to over 4, 000 years ago. The city was once the capital of several dynasties and empires, Including Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Han Dynasty, Northern Wei Dynasty and Tang Dynasty. One of Luoyang’s most popular tourist attractions is Longmen Grottoes. This UNESCO World Heritage Site features thousands of Buddhist statues carved into limestone cliffs during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534 AD).

The grottoes contain more than 2, 300 caves and niches with over 100, 000 statues and images. Another must-visit sight in Luoyang is White Horse Temple which was built during Eastern Han dynasty (25–220 AD), Making it one of the oldest temples in China. It is believed to be where Buddhism first entered China through India via Central Asia. Luoyang also boasts an impressive collection of museums that showcase its rich cultural heritage.

The Luoyang Museum houses over 30, 000 cultural relics from ancient times to modern day including pottery figurines from Neolithic period (7000-5000 BC) to bronze vessels from Shang dynasty (1600-1046 BC).
